Oxford Vacation Term for Biblical Studies

July 29, 2010

I am spending this week delivering a set of lectures in the summer programme known as the Vacation Term for Biblical Studies held each year in Oxford (St. Anne’s College). This is my second time and I am again impressed with the programme and opportunities offered. These include introductions to biblical Greek & Hebrew, and reading classes for those with some knowledge of these languages.

But the main programme comprises daily lectures by prominent scholars in OT and NT. Next week, Prof. John Barclay (Durham) gives lectures on Paul. Mine this week were on the Gospel of Mark.

I recommend it to those who might want to come to the UK to combine tourism and some solid learning in biblical studies. And of course, there’s also Oxford to enjoy out of lecture-time.
