Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise

October 18, 2011

I have just received news of a wonderful awards scheme:  The Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise.  More details below.

From 2007 to 2011, the John Templeton Foundation sponsored awards for the best doctoral theses or first post-doctoral books, a dozen such awards each year covering the widest spectrum of subjects in Theology & Religions Studies.  This scheme ended in 2011, having recognized 60 young scholars of outstanding promise.

From 2013 onward, however, the Manfred Lautenschlageger Award for Theological Promise will be given to 10 young scholars from any country.  Each award will include a prize of $10,000, and winners will have the chance to propose an international and interdisciplinary colloquium on an important academic subject  Each year, two Lautenschlaeger Colloquia will be supported with 15,000 Euros.

For applications/nominations (until 31 May 2012) and further information, the following contact:  Mrs. Caroline Goedde, Wissenschaftlich-Theologisches Seminar, Kisselgasse 1, 69117 Heidelberg, Germany.  Email:
